एक बहुत ही बड़े तपस्वी थे । वह श्री राम जी को अपना छोटा भाई और अपने आप को उनका बड़ा भाई मानते थे । वे श्रीराम जी से कहते थे कि मैं आपका बड़ा भाई हूं और अगर आपको कुछ भी काम हो तो मुझसे अवश्य कहिए । वे श्री राम मंदिर से थोड़ी दूर कुटिया बनाकर रहते थे । एक बार श्री राम मन्दिर के जो पुजारी थे , उनके बेटे को कोई बीमारी हो गई । उसके इलाज के लिए पुजारी जी एक वैद्य पर गए । उस वैद्य ने पुजारी को नीला थोथा नाम की दवाई दी । और उससे कहा की आप इसमे कुछ अन्य जड़ी बूटियां मिलाकर अपने पुत्र के शरीर पर लगा देना वो ठीक हो जाएगा । कहते है कि नीला थोथा एक विष के समान पदार्थ होता है । पुजारी ने नीला थोथा गलती से उस स्थान पर रख दिया , जहां पर वह भगवान के लिए मिश्री रखता था । पुजारी जी रात को भगवान को दूध का भोग लगाने वाले थे , तो उन्होने जल्दबाजी में दूध में मिश्री की बजाए नीला थोथा उठाकर घोल दिया और उन्होंने यह भी नहीं देखा कि दूध का रंग धीरे धीरे काला हो चुका है । उन्होने मन्दिर में श्री राम के आगे उसका भोग लगाकर दरवाजा बंद कर दिया और जाकर सो गए । जब श्रीराम ने उस दूध को पिया , तो पीते ही उनकी प्रतिमा का सारा रंग काला पड़ गया । श्रीराम के हृदय में जलन होने लगी । तब श्री राम ने उन तपस्वी के स्वप्न में जाकर कहा कि – उठो मेरे छोटे भाई , उठो , मुझे पुजारी ने गलती से नीला थोथा दे दिया है। मुझे ह्रदय में जलन हो रही है । मेरी प्रतिमा का सारा रंग काला हो गया है । कुछ उपाय करो ,मुझे बहुत पीड़ा हो रही है । तब संत जी जागे और अपने शिष्य को उठाया और उन्हें अपने स्वपन की सारी बात बताई । वे सब श्री राम के मन्दिर में गए । उन्होंने मंदिर के पुजारी को जगाया और सारी घटना बताई । रात में ही मंदिर के बाहर भक्तों की भीड़ जमा हो गई । यह बात सारे में फैल गई थी कि श्री राम को पुजारी ने गलती से जहर पिला दिया है । पुजारी और संत जी ने जाकर मंदिर का दरवाजा खोला , तो देखा कि श्री राम की सारी प्रतिमा काली हो गई है । तब संत जी ने श्रीराम से पूछा कि – आपकी यह जलन कैसे कम होगी ? कृपया कुछ उपाय बताइए । तब श्री राम जी बोले कि – यह जो थोड़ा सा दूध बचा हुआ है । अगर इसमें तुम सवा मन दूध और मिलाकर सब भक्तजन को बांटो , तो मेरी यह जलन कम हो जाएगी । पुजारी और संत जी ने बाहर आकर सभी भक्तों को यह बातें बताई , तो सभी भक्त उस जहर को पीने के लिए तैयार हो गए । तब संत जी ने सवा मन दूध मंगा कर उसमें वो बचा हुआ दूध मिलाया और सभी भक्तजन में बांट दिया । वहां पर कम से कम हजारों की संख्या में भक्तजन की भीड़ जमा थी । जैसे-जैसे दूध बांटा जा रहा था , ऐसे ही प्रतिमा का रंग सफेद होता जा रहा था । बाद में जब सारा दूध बंट गया और सारे भक्तजन अपने घर चले गए । तब संत जी मंदिर में आए और देखा कि श्री राम की प्रतिमा का सारा रंग सफेद हो चुका है । लेकिन उनकी हथेली पर थोड़ी सी कालीमा बाकी है । तब उन्होंने श्री राम से पूछा कि यह आपकी हथेली जो काली रह गई है, वह कैसे ठीक होगी । तब श्री राम ने कहा कि यह नहीं जाएगी । तब संत जी ने कहा – क्यों प्रभु ? सारा दूध तो बंट गया है । फिर आपकी हथेली का रंग सफेद क्यों नहीं हुआ । तब श्री राम बोले कि जिस कढ़ाई में तुमने दूध आपस मे मिलाया था , उस कढ़ाई में थोड़ा सा दूध लगा रह गया है । जिसके कारण यह हथेली काली रह गई है । तब संत जी बोले कि – प्रभु , उस कढ़ाई में लगा हुआ दूध मैं पी लेता हूं । तब श्री राम बोले कि – नहीं , बड़े भाई इसे रहने दो। यह एक घटना के तौर पर याद रहेगी कि मेरे भक्तों ने मेरे लिए क्या-क्या सहन किया ।
यह एक सत्य घटना है । यह घटना अयोध्या में श्री कनक बिहारी मंदिर जी की है । कनक बिहारी मंदिर में आज भी श्री राम , माता सीता और अपने अनुज सहित विराजमान है । और उनकी हथेली आज भी काली है । और उस काली हथेली को ढकने के लिए उस पर मेहंदी लगाई जाती है ।
He was a great ascetic. He considered Shri Ram ji as his younger brother and himself as his elder brother. He used to tell Shriram ji that I am your elder brother and if you need anything, then do tell me. He used to live in a hut a little far away from Shri Ram Mandir. Once the son of the priest of the Shri Ram temple got sick. The priest went to a doctor for his treatment. That doctor gave medicine named Neela Thotha to the priest. And told him that you mix some other herbs in it and apply it on your son's body, he will be fine. It is said that Neela Thotha is a poison-like substance. The priest mistakenly kept the blue thota at the place where he used to keep sugar candy for the Lord. The priest was about to offer milk to God at night, so in a hurry, instead of sugar candy, he mixed blue powder in the milk and he did not even notice that the color of the milk has gradually turned black. He offered bhog in front of Shri Ram in the temple, closed the door and went to sleep. When Shriram drank that milk, the whole color of his statue turned black as soon as he drank it. Shriram's heart started feeling jealous. Then Shri Ram went in the dream of that ascetic and said – wake up my younger brother, wake up, the priest has given me blue thota by mistake. I am having heartburn. The whole color of my statue has turned black. Do some remedy, I am suffering a lot. Then the saint woke up and woke up his disciple and told him all about his dream. They all went to the temple of Shri Ram. He woke up the priest of the temple and told the whole incident. A crowd of devotees gathered outside the temple in the night itself. The word had spread all over that the priest had mistakenly given poison to Shri Ram. When the priest and the saint opened the door of the temple, they saw that the entire idol of Shri Ram had turned black. Then the saint asked Shriram that - how will this jealousy of yours be reduced? Please suggest some solutions. Then Shri Ram ji said that - this little milk is left. If you add one-fourth mind milk and distribute it to all the devotees, then this jealousy of mine will reduce. The priest and the saint came out and told these things to all the devotees, then all the devotees got ready to drink that poison. Then the saint asked for a quarter of a cup of milk, mixed the remaining milk in it and distributed it among all the devotees. There was a crowd of at least thousands of devotees gathered there. As the milk was being distributed, the color of the idol was becoming white. Later, when all the milk was distributed and all the devotees went to their homes. Then the saint came to the temple and saw that the entire color of the idol of Shri Ram had turned white. But there is a little Kalima left on his palm. Then he asked Shri Ram that how will this blackened palm of yours be cured. Then Shri Ram said that it will not go. Then the saint said - Why Lord? All the milk has been distributed. Then why didn't the color of your palm turn white. Then Shri Ram said that the pan in which you had mixed the milk, a little milk has remained in that pan. Due to which this palm has remained black. Then the saint said - Lord, I drink the milk in that pan. Then Shri Ram said - No, elder brother leave it. It will be remembered as an incident that what my devotees tolerated for me.
This is a true incident. This incident is of Shri Kanak Bihari Temple in Ayodhya. Even today Shri Ram, Mata Sita and his younger brother are sitting in the Kanak Bihari temple. And his palm is still black. And to cover that black palm, henna is applied on it.
