एक समय की बात है नारद जी हर रोज भगवान विष्णु के दर्शनों के लिए बैकुंठधाम जाते थे। और भगवान के दर्शन करके वापस आ जाते हैं। यही क्रम रोजाना चलता था। फिर एक दिन नारद जी के मन में यह विचार आया कि कल मुझे भगवान का प्रसाद मिल जाए तो कितना अच्छा होगा। यही विचार करके वह माता लक्ष्मी के पास गए और उनसे आग्रह किया कि माता क्या आप मुझे भगवान का प्रसाद दिलवा दोगी तो आपकी बड़ी कृपा होगी । मगर माता लक्ष्मी कहती है कि भगवान का प्रसाद मिलना इतना आसान नहीं है। उसके लिए भगवान की आज्ञा अत्यंत आवश्यक है । बिना भगवान की आज्ञा के मैं किसी को भगवान का प्रसाद नहीं दे सकती । फिर नारद जी ने भगवान को प्रसन्न करने के लिए 12 वर्षों तक कठिन तपस्या की । मगर भगवान का प्रसाद पाना इतना आसान नहीं था । इतनी तपस्या करने के बाद भी नारद जी को प्रसाद नहीं मिला । अब वे विचार करने लगे कि मैं ऐसा क्या करूं ? कि मुझे भगवान का प्रसाद मिल जाए । फिर नारद जी ने एक योजना बनाई । नारद जी ने स्त्री का रूप धारण किया। साड़ी पहन कर और श्रृंगार करके रोजाना रात को दो बजे से तीन बजे के बीच भगवान के दरबार में झाडू लगाते थे। पूरी सफाई रात को करके वहाँ से चले जाते थे। लक्ष्मी माता यह सोच में पड़ गई कि रात के तीन बजे भगवान के दरबार में कौन झाडू लगाता है ? लक्ष्मी जी जानना चाहती थी इतनी सुबह कौन पूरा दरबार साफ करके जाता है। ऐसा कई दिनों तक चलता रहा । एक दिन लक्ष्मी जी फैसला करती हैं कि जो कोई भी यहां सफाई करता है मैं उसको ढूंढगी। इसलिए वह रात को ही एक पेड़ के पीछे छुप कर खड़ी हो गयी। फिर ठीक 3 बजे नारद जी स्त्री के रूप में साड़ी पहन कर आए और भगवान के दरबार की सफाई करने लगे । नारद जी पूरी लगन के साथ सफाई करने में लगे हुए थे तभी लक्ष्मी जी ने पीछे से आकर नारद जी को पकड़ लिया और पूछने लगी कि कौन हो तुम ? और चुपचाप सफाई क्यों करती हो ? क्या इरादा है तुम्हारा ? इस तरह से माता लक्ष्मी जी ने एक साथ बहुत सारे सवाल पूछ डालें । फिर नारद जी अपने असली स्वरूप में आकर माता लक्ष्मी से बोले – माता , मैं नारद हूं । भगवान के प्रसाद को पाने की भावना से भगवान की सेवा कर रहा हूं ताकि भगवान प्रसन्न होकर प्रसाद देने की कृपा करें । लक्ष्मी जी बोली आपने इतने वर्षों तक तपस्या की फिर भी आपको प्रसाद नहीं मिला और अब आप प्रसाद पाने के लिए झाड़ू लगा रहे हो । माता बहुत आश्चर्यचकित हो गई । नारद जी फिर से आग्रह करने लगे कि मां आप स्वयं भगवान विष्णु से बात करें । माता लक्ष्मी भगवान विष्णु के पास गई और प्रभु से कहा कि – हे! भगवन । नारद जी , आपके प्रसाद लिए बहुत आग्रह कर रहे हैं । कृपा करके आप उनकी विनती स्वीकार करो । फिर भगवान विष्णु मुस्कुराए और बोले कि आप जाकर नारद जी के लिए छप्पन भोग का भोजन तैयार करो । फिर माता लक्ष्मी जी भगवान की आज्ञा पाकर भगवान विष्णु जी का प्रसाद तैयार करती है । छप्पन प्रकार का भोजन बनाती है । उनका भगवान श्री विष्णु जी को भोग लगाती है । भगवान ने थोड़ा प्रसाद खाकर बाकी का प्रसाद नारद जी को देने के लिए कहा । माता लक्ष्मी जी ने प्रभु की आज्ञा से नारद जी को भगवान का प्रसाद दिया । नारद जी बहुत ही अधिक प्रसन्न हुए और पूरा प्रसाद खा लिया । फिर तो नारद भगवान का नाम चिंतन करने लगे । नारद जी नारायण – नारायण करते हुए सीधे भगवान शिव के धाम कैलाश चले गए । नारद जी को देखकर भगवान शिव ने पूछा कि क्या बात है नारद ? आज आप बहुत प्रसन्न हो । नारद जी बताते हैं कि आज मुझे श्री भगवान विष्णु का प्रसाद खाने को मिला है । मैं तो धन्य हो गया । शिव जी बोले – यह तो गलत बात है आपने अकेले ही खा लिया । हमे प्रसाद नही दिया । नारद जी बोलते हैं प्रसाद खाते हुए, मुझे भगवान के सिवा कुछ याद ही नहीं रहा । इसलिए मैंने सारा प्रसाद खा लिया । तभी भगवान शिव की नजर नारद जी के मुंह पर लगे एक चावल के दाने पर पड़ी । भगवान शिव ने वही चावल का एक दाना ग्रहण कर लिया फिर तो वें भी भगवान विष्णु में ही मगन हो गए और खुशी से नृत्य करने लगे । माता पार्वती ने भगवान शिव को इस तरह से भक्ति भाव में देखा तो उन्होंने पूछा भी कि ऐसा क्या हुआ है ? जो आप इतने अधिक प्रसन्न दिखाई दे रहे हो । कृपा करके बताइए । भगवान शिव ने सारी कथा मां पार्वती को बता दी फिर तो माता पार्वती नाराज हो जाती हैं और भगवान शिव से कहती हैं कि मैं आपकी अर्धाग्नि हूं फिर भी आपने मुझे प्रसाद नहीं दिया और अपने आप ही खा लिया । यदि आपको चावल का एक दाना मिला था तो आधा मुझे दे देते । माता पार्वती नाराज होकर बैकुंठ धाम चली जाती हैं । और भगवान विष्णु से कहती है कि आपने मुझे अपना प्रसाद नहीं दिया । भगवान शिव और नारद जी ने तो आपका प्रसाद प्राप्त कर लिया है । परंतु मुझे ही नहीं मिला । फिर भगवान विष्णु माता लक्ष्मी जी से कहते हैं कि आप फिर से भोजन बनाइए और मुझे भोग लगाकर फिर माता पार्वती जी को दीजिए । तब माता लक्ष्मी ने ऐसा ही किया । प्रसाद प्राप्त कर माता पार्वती का क्रोध शांत हुआ । भगवान विष्णु ने माता पार्वती जी को वचन दिया कि मैं कलयुग में जगन्नाथ जी के रूप में जगन्नाथपुरी में विराजमान होऊंगा। । वहां पर मेरा छप्पन प्रकार का भोग लगा करेगा । मेरे भोग लगने के पश्चात आपको सबसे पहले प्रसाद दिया जाएगा । इसलिए आपका मंदिर भी वही उसी प्रांगण में स्थापित होगा । वहां पर आपका नाम माता विमला देवी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध होगा । सभी लोग आपकी पूजा करेंगे आपको प्रसाद चढ़ाने के बाद ही मेरा प्रसाद महाप्रसाद बन जाएगा । उसके बाद ही सब को वितरित किया जाएगा । इस प्रसाद को पाकर सभी लोग धन्य हो जाएंगे । उनके सभी तरह के पापों का अंत हो जाएगा । तो आपने देखा कि भगवान का प्रसाद पाने के लिए देवताओं को भी तप करना पड़ता है और हम सब यह महाप्रसाद भगवान जगन्नाथ पुरी के धाम में प्राप्त कर सकते हैं इस महाप्रसाद की महिमा अपरंपार है ।
Why did Narada take the form of a woman?
Once upon a time, Narad ji used to go to Baikunthdham every day to have darshan of Lord Vishnu. And come back after seeing God. This routine went on every day. Then one day this thought came in the mind of Narad ji that tomorrow I will get God's prasad how good it will be. Thinking this, he went to Mata Lakshmi and requested her that mother, if you give me God's prasad, then you will be very pleased. But Mata Lakshmi says that getting the prasad of God is not so easy. God's command is very necessary for that. I cannot give God's prasad to anyone without God's permission. Then Narada did hard penance for 12 years to please the Lord. But getting God's prasad was not so easy. Even after doing so much penance, Narada did not get prasad. Now they started thinking what should I do? that I may get the blessings of God. Then Narad ji made a plan. Narada took the form of a woman. Wearing a sari and making up, he used to sweep the Lord's court every night between two o'clock and three o'clock. After doing complete cleaning at night, they used to leave from there. Lakshmi Mata got into thinking that who sweeps the court of God at three o'clock in the night? Lakshmi ji wanted to know who goes to clean the whole court this morning. This went on for several days. One day Lakshmi ji decides that whoever cleans here, I will find him. So she stood at night hiding behind a tree. Then at exactly 3 o'clock Narad ji came wearing a sari in the form of a woman and started cleaning the court of God. Narad ji was engaged in cleaning with full dedication, then Lakshmi ji came from behind and caught Narad ji and started asking who are you? And why do you keep quiet? what is your intention? In this way Mata Lakshmi ji asked many questions at once. Then Narad ji came in his real form and said to Mother Lakshmi – Mother, I am Narada. I am serving God with the spirit of getting God's prasad so that God may be pleased to give prasad. Lakshmi ji said that you did penance for so many years, yet you did not get the prasad and now you are sweeping to get the prasad. Mother was very surprised. Narad ji again urged that mother herself should talk to Lord Vishnu. Mother Lakshmi went to Lord Vishnu and said to the Lord - O! God . Naradji, you are asking a lot for your prasad. Please accept his request. Then Lord Vishnu smiled and said that you go and prepare fifty-six bhog food for Narada ji. Then Mata Lakshmi ji prepares the offerings of Lord Vishnu after getting the permission of God. Cooks fifty six types of food. They offer bhog to Lord Shri Vishnu ji. After eating some prasad, God asked him to give the rest of the prasad to Narad ji. Mother Lakshmi ji gave God's prasad to Narad ji by the order of the Lord. Narad ji was very happy and ate the whole prasad. Then Narada started contemplating the name of the Lord. Narad ji Narayan - While doing Narayan, went straight to Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva. Seeing Narad ji, Lord Shiva asked what is the matter Narada? You are very happy today. Narad ji says that today I have got to eat the Prasad of Lord Vishnu. I was blessed. Shiv ji said – This is wrong, you ate alone. We were not given prasad. Narad ji says that while eating prasad, I could not remember anything except God. So I ate all the prasad. Then Lord Shiva's eyes fell on a grain of rice on Narada's mouth. Lord Shiva took a grain of the same rice, then he too became engrossed in Lord Vishnu and started dancing happily. When Mata Parvati saw Lord Shiva in such a devotional spirit, she also asked what has happened? You seem so happy. Please tell me Lord Shiva told the whole story to Mother Parvati, then Mother Parvati gets angry and tells Lord Shiva that I am your half fire, yet you did not give me prasad and ate it on your own. If you had got a grain of rice, you would have given half to me. Mother Parvati gets angry and goes to Baikunth Dham. And tells Lord Vishnu that you have not given me your prasad. Lord Shiva and Narad ji have received your prasad. But I didn't get it. Then Lord Vishnu tells Mata Lakshmi ji that you should prepare food again and after offering me food, then give it to Mother Parvati ji. Then Mother Lakshmi did the same. On receiving the prasad, the anger of Mother Parvati was pacified. Lord Vishnu promised Mata Parvati ji that I would be seated in Jagannathpuri in the form of Jagannath ji in Kali Yuga. , There I will have fifty-six kinds of bhog. Prasad will be given to you first after I enjoy it. Therefore your temple will also be established in the same courtyard. There your name will be famous as Mata Vimala Devi. Everyone will worship you, only after offering you prasad, my prasad will become Mahaprasad. Only then will it be distributed to all. Everyone will be blessed by getting this prasad. All their sins will come to an end. So you have seen that to get the prasad of God, even the deities have to do penance and we all can get this Mahaprasad in the dham of Lord Jagannath Puri. The glory of this Mahaprasad is unmatched.
